Wawel Cathedral. Ticket prices and admission costs

Usually, entry to churches in Poland is free. However, this is not the case for the Wawel Cathedral, also known as the Wawel Royal Cathedral. Admission to the Wawel Cathedral in Kraków is paid, and tickets for visiting the entire Wawel Royal Castle do not include entry to the cathedral. A separate ticket is required to visit the cathedral. How much does admission to the Wawel Cathedral cost in 2025? What are the ticket prices for the Wawel Cathedral in Kraków? Let’s check.

The Wawel Cathedral, officially the Archcathedral Basilica of Saints Stanislaus and Wenceslaus, is one of the historic landmarks in Kraków where admission is not free.

To visit the cathedral, see Poland’s most famous bell, the Sigismund Bell, and explore the royal tombs located in the crypts beneath the cathedral, you need to purchase tickets.

Those wishing to enter for prayer do not have to pay for a ticket. There are online accounts of people who wanted to enter the cathedral for prayer and were denied entry, but generally, you can inform the staff at the entrance of your intention to pray in this Roman Catholic church, and they will allow you to enter for free. Participation in Mass at the Wawel Cathedral is also free.

It’s worth noting that the Wawel Cathedral is a separate entity from the Wawel Royal Castle collections. Even if you have a ticket to the entire Wawel Royal Castle, it does not grant you entry to the cathedral. So, what are the ticket prices?

Wawel Cathedral Ticket Prices

Fortunately, admission to the Wawel Cathedral is not extremely expensive. That said, it’s not cheap by Polish standards, but there are more expensive attractions in Kraków. In 2025, a standard ticket to the Wawel Cathedral costs 23 PLN (5.55 EUR, 5.80 USD, 4.60 USD), while a reduced ticket costs 16 PLN (3.85 EUR, 4.05 USD, 3.20 GBP).

Reduced tickets are available for students under 26 years of age, teachers, holders of the Polish Large Family Card, and disabled individuals with appropriate documentation.

The Wawel Cathedral is entirely separate from the Wawel Royal Castle. Tickets for both are purchased at different locations. The ticket office for the cathedral, visible in the photo, is located a short distance from the cathedral entrance and the statue of Pope John Paul II.

Standard 23 PLN
Reduced 16 PLN

A ticket to the Wawel Cathedral grants access to the church, the Sigismund Bell tower, the royal tombs in the crypts, as well as the Cathedral Museum and the Archdiocesan Museum. The latter two attractions are often overlooked by visitors.

The Cathedral Museum is closed on Sundays and public holidays, while the Archdiocesan Museum is closed on Mondays. The cathedral itself is closed during Mass and other religious ceremonies.

The Wawel Cathedral’s price list also includes the option to rent an audio guide for 13 PLN with a standard ticket and 9 PLN with a reduced ticket.
